Tackling the UK's Energy Supply Challenges

UK National Grid partners are currently facing increasing challenges of balancing national and localised supply and demand in order to deliver a seamless and reliable energy supply to domestic, commercial and industrial clients.

To overcome such challenges, PM Group is working with clients who specialise in operating smart, clean, quick acting peak power production assets. These are small, flexible power generating units, typically less than 50 MW in capacity, that can obtain full load within a few minutes from standstill. These assets are strategically located close to sources of high demand, supplying energy to the grid when and where it’s needed most.

“This distributed capacity approach directly helps counter and secure supply issues, including system volatility, errors in predicting renewable energy requirements or even larger power stations suffering unexpected faults or downtimes.” Says Andrew Hallgarth, Safety and Power Specialist with PM Group.

As a result, PM Group is adding value by providing consultancy, project and construction management services to UK clients in the energy industry and other sectors. Taking data centres as an example, PM Group has transferable experience in delivering and commissioning hundreds of similar units for mission critical clients.
