The launch of PM Group’s Benelux office in Wavre follows a number of project wins for PM Group where the company secured several biopharmaceutical and R&D contracts with combined capital values in excess of €400 million.
PM Group, the international engineering, architectural design and project management firm, has established its Benelux headquarters in Wavre to spearhead its expansion in the region.
The company has recently competed for and won major projects in the region. The contracts, won in association with strategic integrated services partner Grontmij Industry, include amongst others, a new chemical development pilot plant for Janssen Pharmaceutica and a major expansion for Genzyme in Geel. The partners have also worked on major projects in the region for clients including GSK Biologics, Abbott (formerly Solvay Pharmaceutical), MSD (formerly Schering Plough) and UCB.
Within the next two years the company will employ 50 people who will be based at the new Benelux office and on project sites.
In attendance at the official opening of PM Group’s new regional headquarters were H.E. Tom Hanney, Ambassador of Ireland to Belgium; Minister Louis Michel, MEP; Pat McGrath, PM Group CEO and Dave Murphy, PM Group Managing Director for Western Europe.
Belgium is attracting major investment from the life sciences industry according to Dave Murphy, MD of PM Group in Western Europe, “The Belgian Pharma market has some of the worlds largest players, eight of whom have confirmed planned growth over the next 3 years – with an estimated capital spend of over €1.5 billion in total. PM Group has considerable experience working in this sector internationally and we are now building our operations in Benelux. Wavre is at the heart of this region and is attracting major investment from the global life sciences industry.”
