Following track widening, the project included new platforms with canopies and an overbridge leading to a three-storey station building containing escalators and lifts. A five-storey car park provides in excess of 800 parking places.
Extensive external works included the station forecourt which was designed to facilitate the movement of passengers between trains and airport buses.
