Projects in Germany
PM Group carried out two main projects for Kraft in Germany. The first was an aroma recovery plant in Bremen which required a relatively large engineering input due to the complexity of the process. This was immediately followed by an aroma retention project (with completely different technology) for a plant in Berlin which was part of a pan-European project on several production sites.
PM Group initially carried out the Front End Design for the aroma recovery. Once the project was approved, we were then appointed to carry out the detailed process, mechanical, piping, instrumentation and automation design and specification. As the project was so novel, the client’s UK-based R&D team was also heavily involved in the design process.
PM Group also directly managed the commissioning, validation, operator training and handover of the plant to the client and provided production start-up assistance for the first few weeks after hand-over.
Projects in Sweden, France and Belgium
These projects were part of the pan-European aroma retention project of which Berlin was also a part. The plants selected by Kraft for the installation of the new technology were their other key European manufacturing centres for roast and ground coffee - Gävle in Sweden, Lavérune in France and Liège in Belgium.
