As the Head of Construction for PM PROjEN you will be accountable for the overall execution and delivery of our construction services for our portfolio of clients and projects across the UK.

In addition to overall construction services management you will also be expected to handle our formal communication and dialogue with our clients as well as 3rd party contractors/consultants as well as supporting relevant bid activity.

Job Role and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

  • Line management responsibility of PM PROjEN Construction Managers and Construction Supervisors.
  • Working together with the Project Managers to recruit and manage the required resource in line with client and PM PROjEN project requirements.
  • Provide Pre-Construction Services on constructability, safety reviews, design interface, construction scheduling, resource planning, temporary works, budget reviews and site set-up/logistics.
  • Lead the definition of safe and efficient construction strategies.
  • Ensures the relevant Pre Construction Information and Construction Phase plans are in place under CDM (2015).
  • Establish and ensure the completion of the PM PROjEN Construction Management Plan (CMP), Construction Management Site Manual, Construction Execution Plan and Contractor Interface Procedures for all relevant projects.
  • Ensure that construction team members have received induction in PM PROjEN systems, project procedures and fully understand their responsibilities, particularly in relation to Safety Management.
  • Undertake site safety tours and audits.
  • Stand in for Construction Managers and Supervisors during periods of absence or act as Construction Manager for short duration site works.
  • Oversee the implementation of PM PROjEN’s CM systems and procedures and drive improvement as required.
  • Ensure that Contractors are fully aware of their obligations and responsibilities under their Contracts and that the terms and conditions of the Contracts are fulfilled by all relevant parties.
  • Ensure completion of the project in accordance with all the project goals, especially in the areas of safety, quality, time and cost.
  • Protect the business’s commercial and contractual interests on the project.
  • Keep Project Manager or Project Sponsor fully informed on any issues of concern.
  • Responsible for all construction related formal communication to the Customer, Designers, Contractors and others.
  • Ensure plant, systems and facilities are handed over to the Customer in accordance with project requirements and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ideally degree or equivalent in related subject (e.g. construction management or engineering discipline)
  • Health and safety qualifications/ certification such as IOSH, NEBOSH etc.
  • A suitable level of experience in construction management, along with a broad project delivery capability in EPCMCQ related projects.
  • Temporary works experience / certification.
  • Specific sector related experience including; Industrial, Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharma, Food & Drink and Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT).
  • Complex brownfield site experience and experience of client facility shutdowns and reinstatement.
  • UK project experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge and strong understanding of UK H&S statutory requirements.
  • Good understanding of UK contractual models and supply chain capability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operator levels within an organisation
