We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer for our Client based in Co. Mayo.

The successful candidate will work within the Engineering Team where they will be required to provide ongoing support to Operations and Maintenance as well as develop and manage work scopes in association with the EMS Contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and management of the site electrical infrastructure and make improvements to ensure it is reliable and robust for the present needs as well as for the facility’s long term future
  • Lead the control of electrical drawings, ensuring new drawings records are produced, reviewed and existing drawings are updated
  • Lead and/or support design of instrument wiring, drawings, MCC schematics and general service/lighting schematics.  Additionally review and approve the drawings & designs produced by consultants / contractors
  • Develop and update all statutory periodical maintenance of all site electrical equipment, switchgear and control gear to meet site performance standards
  • Develop electrical preventative maintenance routines (PM’s) for areas where they presently do not exist and expand as well as optimize existing electrical PM’s as required
  • Support the site Electrical Maintenance (e.g. Thermographic, LV and HV Maintenance, PAT, Equipotential Bonding)
  • Support the management of all electrical contractors on site to ensure they comply with the electrical specifications and deliverables set out by the electrical engineer i.e. adherence to site safety rules, procedures and project deliverables
  • Maintenance and upgrades of the electrical facilities systems such as lighting, emergency lighting, UPS systems, small power, cable containment systems, earthing and lightning protection system, transformers, MV\LV panels etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical related process problems and equipment failures to determine root cause hence instigate repair using the latest lean tools & techniques
  • Project manage electrical projects on site and assist with multi-disciplined projects where required
  • Provide leadership and coaching to technicians as required; support problem solving and continuous improvement efforts across all areas of the sites
  • Develop critical spares list for site electrical utilities and main MCC panels to ensure that critical spares are in stock or are readily available at all times.  Ensure that an effective programme is then maintained
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years’ electrical field experience in production or manufacturing required, oil and gas industry experience preferred

Demonstrable experience of the following:

  • ATEX directives and hazardous area equipment selection and installation
  • Operation and maintenance of electrical generation systems both HV and LV
  • Power management systems including load shedding, tripping and power measurement i.e. VT’s and CT’s
  • HAZOP & HAZID process for electrical projects
  • Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • Open and honest team player
  • Accountable and responsible



  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in the electrical discipline
