We require an experienced Utilities Manager for our Client’s team, based in Co. Cavan.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall lifecycle of capital assets (designing, delivering, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning) in the most productive and cost-effective manner covering utility point of supply to point of delivery.  They will also be responsible to build, develop, and lead staff in specific functional area to deliver and align with site objectives, and be accountable for reporting, monitoring and delivering electric and gas efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manage maintenance line support, manage/support the department and plant maintenance budgets, coordinate plant shutdown assignments, provide capital project input and support as well as overseeing the maintenance resources necessary to assure the production plan is met and/or exceeded while maintaining a zero-incident safety mind-set, teamwork attitude and excellent customer service
  • Ensure site is compliant with applicable standards, policies, and regulations.  Ensure a high level of compliance with cGMP, and support regulatory requirements such as validation and regulatory documents.  Prepare and participate as needed in all audits and inspections by having a good knowledge of the systems and the facility and assuring all Engineering leads understand their role
  • Develop the staff’s capability and competency in technical, quality, safety, project management, and business management as applicable
  • Ensure each engineer/craft’s training is adequate and current to perform their assigned roles
  • Oversee and/or support engineering activities such as, technology transfer and insource/outsource projects, plant changeover/shutdown project management, process system, equipment, instrumentation, and software specification, generation of function tests, and commissioning/validation protocols, development and maintenance of SOPs, generation and maintenance of system life cycle documentation (Drawings, Design Files, FRS, SDDS, etc.), demonstrate advanced working knowledge of quality systems, and commercial manufacturing systems, and project management
  • Evaluate resource requirements (staffing, financial, and time) and provide resource management as required in order to meet site goals. Develop and manage departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets as assigned.  Lead cost reduction initiatives to achieve assigned targets
  • Communicate concerns and issues of staff, project status, performance and suggestions for improvement to management
  • Demonstrate good project management skills (schedule, cost, communications, and resource management) to execute projects in a timely and cost effective manner.  Well organized and able to multi-task in project environments, and skilled in technical communication
  • Develop organizational chart, staffing plan, and job descriptions, select and hire staff to align with site objectives.  Prepare, execute, and monitor staff development plans and administer performance evaluations and performance plans
  • Ensures problem solving tools, templates, and process are used and tracks corrective and preventative actions through to completion
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to be able to deal with constant change
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all organization levels

Requirements

  • Level 7 certification in technical field or equivalent discipline
  • 5 years relevant experience in Engineering
  • 3 years people management experience
  • The ability to organize, motivate and understand people
  • Ability to work on platforms, scaffolding and ladders
  • Good mental ability to logically follow a line of though for problem solving
  • High speed automation manufacturing line
