According to PM Group process safety experts, the EU Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) legislation needs to include hazards from wider industry.

Brenda Madden and Sinead Keohane were awarded the Sam Mannan Poster Prize at the IChemE Process Safety Conference, Hazards 29, Birmingham, UK on 22-24 May 2019. 

Their technical paper titled “Is it time to revise Process Safety Legislation to include evolving manufacturing processes in the Biotechnology sector?”  investigates gaps in the existing legislative framework with regard to managing Major Accident Hazards in the Biotechnology sector. It reviews current and emerging best practice which could potentially be applied to close the gaps.
