Solution highlights

PM Group in Poland provided engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the latest MTU Aero Engines and Lufthansa Technik JV development project - the greenfield maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of geared turbofan engines facility.

The footprint area is approximately 40,512 sq.m. on a 17 ha plot. The project involved the design of an MRO workshop, admin-social building with canteen, test cell with fuel off-loading station including tanks, two technical buildings (CUB and fire water tanks and pump house) along with site utilities and site infrastructure.

The challenge

PM Group's team was challenged to develop design on a basis of the two clients guidelines. Additionally, the management and design team collaborated on 5 different sub-projects on the JV side and the “Fabrikplanner” (Factory Planner) who was coordinating the process equipment. Our teams met this challenge and successfully delivered detailed design for this state-of-the-art facility.

In our Construction Management role, PM Group supervised the work of approximately 500 people across the MRO and Test Cell sites.

State-of-the-art facility

The MRO facility is now a world-class aircraft engine service centre for the latest Pratt & Whitney PW1000G-series GTF engines. The plant was designed with Revit in a 3D environment with LOD350. This facilitated efficient coordination of installation, construction and equipment. Our client was able to visualise the fully equipped facility through the design stage. This brought significant advantages for the project and for the ongoing operation of the facility.
