"PM Group feels like family. The company strives for professionalism and commercial success while still retaining a basic decency to staff, clients and contractors. The ethics of this are really important to me."

I come from Assam in India, home to the first crude oil well and the first petroleum refinery in the country. I always dreamt of working in a refinery and that’s how Chemical Engineering materialised as a career choice for me. Then Unilever R&D hired me after college and my plans took a different turn! Since then I’ve gone on to work in a wide range of industries which honed my skills and deepened my interest and I’m glad I made that choice.
I am currently working on a variety of projects – an Aseptic Fill Finish Plant for a CMO vaccine facility, multiple projects for a beverage client’s expansion programme and detailed design for a nutritionals evaporator project. Apart from this, managing the process team and regular engineering departmental activities keep me on my toes!
The ability to look at the project from the client’s perspective while still keeping to our scope of delivery is always a major challenge. Our clients appreciate it when we go the extra mile and demonstrate understanding of their needs and wants. To do this successfully, we need to be motivated as a team. Helping the team to be constantly motivated and see the bigger picture, beyond just the day-to-day design work we deliver, is by far the most constant challenge I face.
Joining PM Group was an act of fate when in 2014, I was looking to relocate from India to Singapore. I was intrigued by an opportunity to move out of my comfort zone (designing for the Beverage sector) into other areas which were completely new to me. I was ready to explore the world of engineering design for pharmaceuticals – I took the plunge and happy to say that I have not looked back since.
