Reliability Plant Engineer for a contract role based on site in Cork

Our Pharmaceutical client is seeking to recruit a Reliability Plant Engineer for a contract role based on site in Cork. The degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer will sit on a busy site working within the Reliability Group to ensure business continuity through the use of reliability tools and techniques to ensure operating efficiencies of equipment and facility assets. The ideal candidate will hold an Engineering degree with at least 3 years’ relevant experience in the Pharmaceutical or another highly regulated industry.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Implement site-based reliability activities to comply with policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Conduct FMEA’s and determine the optimum maintenance strategies for each critical plant / system
  • Make recommendations to influence the maintenance budget
  • Facilitate / support investigations to identify root causes of losses in the operation of production, facility and utility processes. Communicate findings across the plant and implement corrective actions that will prevent the failure from re-occurrence
  • Rank the criticality of assets, typically using GRP approaches, and define the proactive maintenance approaches, which are cost beneficial to the business. Typical "maintenance approaches" include run-to-failure, clock and run-time based preventive maintenance, condition-based monitoring approaches such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonic analysis, and on-line alarm monitoring approaches, where appropriate
  • Develop procedures and specifications for the reliability and maintenance aspects of existing and new equipment, and identify the work content for planned shutdowns
  • Provide technical support to maintenance personnel directed to the solution of plant equipment problems and recommend corrective actions

You will have a third level degree in a relevant discipline at a minimum and will ideally have:

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing operations with knowledge of engineering in an API environment
  • The ability to lead technical programs and initiatives, fostering support from stakeholders and collaboration among participants
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Self-starter and decision maker
