We're getting ready for Engineers Week 2020. The excitement is building and we're checking we have all the right pieces for our annual LEGO™ Construction Challenge.

Engineers Week 2020 takes place from 29th February - 6th March 2020. The goal of the annual event is to introduce children across Ireland to the world of engineering and the exciting future careers they could have.

Our teams in Dublin and Cork are taking part in school visits, talks and challenges designed to test the cleverness and ingenuity of students across the country.

In Dublin, we will hold six LEGO™ Construction Challenges where students will compete to build the highest tower made from LEGO™. These young minds will have to consider various aspects of engineering design and implementation to win. We will also take part in the Engineers Roadshow on 2nd March 2020 at Tallaght Stadium.

In Cork, our teams wil visit several schools in the city and county to meet primary and secondary students. Just before Engineers Week on 27th February, we'll be at the Blackrock Castle Observatory where our volunteers will organise a ‘Foam Rollercoaster Design Challenge’.

About Engineers Week

Engineers Week promotes engineering and the importance of the profession to children in Ireland. In 2019, there were over 850 activities organised in the community. The aim of each event is to positively showcase engineering as a rewarding and creative career choice to children in all communities.

In South Dublin County (SDC), over 1,600 students took part in events organised by a great team of people working together from PM Group, TU Tallaght, South Dublin County Council, Vilicom and Xilinx and of course, the schools in the SDC County area.
