The Chuan wins ENR Best Global Projects Manufacturing Category Award

ENR’s Global Best Projects identifies and recognizes project teams behind outstanding design and construction efforts of the past year, located anywhere around the world.

“We are so proud of our team, partners and client, Pernod Ricard. The Chuan project relied on bringing together a group of world-class partners to deliver a state-of-the-art project in a remote, underdeveloped region. PM Group led the project from the start as Pernod Ricard’s EPCM partner, co-ordinating over 15 European and China based stakeholders and vendors working across cultures and 3 languages,” said Barry McFarlane, China Development Director, PM Group.

Pernod Ricard’s “The Chuan” whisky distillery is a unique, 13-hectare facility located in the beautiful UNESCO world heritage area of Emeishan in Western China. Designed by renowned architects, Neri&Hu, the purpose of the facility is to a produce a new world-class whisky product and to create a ‘brand experience’ visitor centre. Emeishan is considered one of the most deeply spiritual places in China. It was the inspiration behind the project’s ambition for this new product category in the whisky industry to be part of a US$150m investment over 10 years.
