The EU Environmental Impact Assessment Directive – what you need to know in 2019

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive 2014/52/EU (amending Directive 2011/92/EU) has now been transposed by the majority of EU member states. But what has changed? Since its launch, the emphasis has already shifted focus from impact assessments to screening and scoping. Further changes include the requirement for new competencies and increased public participation. 

Are you are developer, project manager, engineer, planner or environmental consultant?  What do you need to be aware of in relation to the new directive?

Brian Tiernan will answer these questions and outline the recent changes and future challenges relating to EIA from a practitioner’s perspective. He will provide a background to EIA and what it entails; including a practical example from a recent EIA carried out for the process industry. Brian will also outline what needs to be included for future projects.

Brian Tiernan is an Environmental Specialist with PM Group. He has 16 years’ consulting experience in environmental impact assessment, planning and compliance. He has been involved in EIAs for pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech and food & drink clients in the EMEA region.
