The Biophorum Operations Group’s technology project, Plug and Play, has been shortlisted in the all new Process Automation and Digitalisation category in this year’s IChemE Global Awards.

Keith Morris, PM Group’s Automation SME, is part of the initiative and was involved in the award submission.

According to Keith, “Plug and Play is seeing key players in industry collaborating to develop a standard for the interface between autonomous biopharma skids and supervisory control systems. The aim is to allow the interchangeable use of equipment skids from different manufacturers, bringing significant reductions in design, build and validation times for the interfaces.”

Progress Recognition

The award nomination is another mark of progress for the interface standard. It follows the proof of concept test for Plug and Play at PM Group’s Southampton office and more recent publication of a Whitepaper in BioProcess International Magazine.

The winner of the category will be announced via a webinar on November 12th.
