At the event Keynote speaker, Pat Conneely (Health & Safety Authority - HSA), will provide the regulators view of major accident hazards on both COMAH and Non-COMAH sites. PM Group process safety specialists will discuss digital technology, human factors in Industry 4.0 and toxic/asphyxiant gases.

Keynote Speaker:

Pat Conneely, Head of COMAH, Chemical Production and Storage Unit, Health and Safety Authority

Pat Conneely heads up the COMAH, Chemical Production and Storage Unit of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA). He has been an inspector with the Authority since 1997, having previously occupied research and production roles within the pharma-chem industry. Pat steered the implementation of the COMAH Regulations 2015, the Guidance on Safety Report Assessment and the inspection approach under Seveso III. He was one of the authors of the HSA's Policy & Approach to Land-use Planning document and the recent Guidance on Significant Modifications.

Pat Swords, Principal Process & EHS Consultant, PM Group

Pat is a chartered chemical engineer with over 35 years of experience in the chemical industry.  He is a Fellow with the Institution of Chemical Engineers, FIChemE and a registered Professional Process Safety Engineer. Pat’s experience includes front-end engineering and detailed engineering design of a wide range of industrial facilities. Pat is an experienced HAZOP chair and has completed numerous ATEX (Explosive Atmospheres) compliance projects for both vapour and dust hazards.

Brenda Madden, Principal Process Safety Engineer, PM Group

Brenda is a chartered chemical engineer with some 30 years of specialist experience in Process Design and Process Safety within Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Nuclear industries. Brenda is a registered Professional Process Safety Engineer with IChemE. Recent experience includes Bio Pharma Process/Mechanical Design, Pressure Relief Systems Sizing, ATEX/HAC Consultancy, COMAH Safety Reports and HAZOP/LOPA Facilitator.

Sinead Keohane, Lead Process Safety Consultant, PM Group

Sinead has over 18 years of Safety, Health and Environmental experience in Process Safety Consultancy and in the Pharmaceutical and Beverage industries with a BSc (Hons) Chemical and Process Engineering and an MSc (Eng) in Process Safety & Loss Prevention. Recent experience includes the management of the Process Safety Programme for 2 large pharma design projects,PHA, LOPA, Consequence Modelling using PHAST, HAC and Nitrogen Asphyxiation Risk Assessments. Sinead is also part of the HSA Land Use Planning expert group.
