PM Group recently presented six students with laptops to support them as they began their third-level education.

The students from Nagle Community College, which is located close to PM Group’s Cork office, are the first to progress to third-level education since PM Group announced a €50,000 bursary last year. The students began Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses this Autumn.

The €50,000 bursary which was announced in 2019, is open to sixth year and transition year (TY) pupils over four years. It is designed to support the students’ interest in STEM and to encourage them to pursue third-level education. The collaboration includes the provision of laptops for each leaving certificate student who moves forward to third level education, with mentoring for each student who pursues a STEM related course.

Commenting at the presentation of the laptops, Pat Ryan, Operations Manager, PM Group in Cork, said: “Nagle Community College is an integral part of the community here in Mahon and we are delighted to be able to give back and support its students in their education and as they embark on their journeys into third-level. Since announcing the €50,000 bursary, we have been impressed with the hard work and drive from both the students and teachers at Nagle Community College and are delighted to present this group of students with laptops."

Welcoming the bursary announcement, Jim O’Sullivan, Principal of Nagle Community College, said: “Angie, Ferris, Dean, Camilla, Sabino and Katelyn have all demonstrated excellent initiative and commitment in what has been an exceptionally challenging year for students. They have worked hard to achieve their results and are looking forward to studying in college/university. We are all really thankful to PM Group as the support they have been giving our students offers them an incredible platform as they pursue their dreams.”
