Future-proof design

Global Switch built its second data centre in Singapore's Woodlands area. The new 25,000 sq.m. facility is strategically located in the north of the island and physically distanced from Global Switch’s existing Tai Seng data centre to meet dual occupancy demand. It was designed to accommodate the latest technologies in terms of power and cooling, together with sufficient flexibility to allow adaption as those demands change over time.

This was a landmark project for PM Group, as it was our first data centre project in the ASEAN region. Data centre projects in Singapore are as challenging as anywhere else, but the tropical climate paired with the strict land use, environment and building codes are leading to a drive to develop innovative high rise design solutions which are not usually seen in Europe or the US.

We worked with Global Switch to provide architectural and structural peer review services throughout the design and construction phases of the project. We also had a quality monitoring and design review role on this project.

Sustainability goals

Sustainability is increasingly becoming integral to the design process in the mission critical sector. Global Switch recognise this. The new data centre data centre and has a design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.34, one of the lowest in Singapore. The facility design was targeted a LEED Gold Rating and a Platinum BCA green mark.
