In the Summer issue of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Journal of the ISPE, Alf Penfold, PM Group, outlines how the ISPE's Baseline Guide on Pharma 4.0 integrates new technologies and promotes organizational culture change.
Introducing the basic concepts and principles of Pharma 4.0, the guide is intended to help shape the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry. It includes 35 use-cases to show implementation roadmaps.

Applying emerging and digital technologies can lead to more robust and flexible manufacturing processes. The Pharma 4.0 Operating Model supports digital transformation through maturity assessments, roadmap creation and quality management. The guide defines five maturity levels for digital readiness and emphasizes data integrity by design.
