Projects Manager – Engineering Service Department

We currently have a requirement for a Projects Manager to work in the Engineering Service Department for one of our clients based in Limerick.  This is a permanent role and although mainly based in Limerick, it will require some travel to other sites throughout Ireland.

Role & Responsibilities:

Execution of projects from commencement until final account completion having responsibility for all logistical, contractual, financial, commercial and technical aspects with a focus on safely delivering first-class projects on time and within budget whilst maintaining a strong collaborative working relationship with customers.The successful candidate will lead provisioning as well as supervision of installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of fixed gas detection/fire systems and related infrastructure. This will also include ability to complete technical documents, risk assessments etc., SAT and FAT documents

Project Start-Up Phase

  • Liaise with client and design team on procurement and engineering issues
  • Develop project safety and quality plans
  • Ensure projects team familiarity with the projects contract requirements
  • Establish an effective material stock control and storage system
  • Ensure engineers have all the required permits, inductions, safety training before attending site
  • Complete toolbox talks prior to project kick off

Project Running Phase

  • Manage site team and the effective day to day running of site activities
  • Ensure compliance with programme, materials deliveries, and engineering, quality and safety issues
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Attend all client project meetings and ensure that all actions assigned are completed
  • Hold weekly progress meetings with Project Team and ensure that safety and training are discussed
  • Ensure effective cost and sales control in conjunction with Q.S & Lead Engineers
  • Ensure productivity at work is measured on a weekly basis also maintain project progress control
  • Minimise company exposure to risk and manage / coordinate installation of the project
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant technical aspects within construction industry standards and local authorities requirements if applicable
  • Ensure that all health, safety and welfare obligations associated with the project delivery are met
  • Prepare final account with the QS, submit and agree with client in line with company objective
  • Demobilise site team and establishment in conjunction with Director of project
  • Maintain contact with client for warranty period and thereafter when retention monies are collected
  • Undertake a ‘lessons learnt’ review and present these findings to the Directors
  • Clearing site/archiving/financial & practical review/installed drawings and manuals/secure disposal of confidential information and system. S.A.T. F.A.T with client sign off and agreement
  • Liaise with Operations Manager to prepare Service Level Agreements.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management Course and People Management & Leadership Course
  • 10 + years’ experience in a similar position in the gas detection/fire or electrical sector is essential
  • Detailed knowledge of construction industry standards
  • Familiar with Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures
  • Budget planning skills
