Delivering energy efficient solutions
BT appointed PM Group to support them during the upgrade of their data centre in Dublin. We were asked to review the existing systems in the data centre and advise on energy efficiency upgrades to be undertaken.
This involved two projects on the site. The first project included the installation of 2 port valves instead of 3 ports in the CRAC units to obtain energy savings in the secondary pumping system. The second project involved the installation of two dry coolers to allow the facility to avail of free cooling and pre-cool the chilled water return prior to entering the existing air cooled chiller thus increasing its efficiency and reducing energy costs.
Partnership approach
Our relationship with BT on this site stems back to 2008, when we completed the design, construction management and commissioning of two data halls. This was one of PM Group's first data centre project and gave us a great basis for developing our now industry leading capability in the sector. We continue to provide various design and project management services to this highly valued client.
